After surveying 35 domestic hernia surgeons, Piper Jaffray analyst Matt O'Brien expects hernia will be a "meaningful contributor" to Intuitive Surgical's procedural growth in the coming years. The surgeons expect their utilization of Intuitive's da Vinci in hernia procedures to increase from 22% this year to 31% in 2018, O'Brien tells investors in a research note. The analyst calls Piper's survey an "incremental positive" for Intuitive Surgical but reiterates a Neutral rating on the stock given the "premium valuation."
