ISRG

After the FDA issued a safety communication regarding the use of robotically-assisted surgical devices in Women's Health, including mastectomy and other cancer-related surgeries, Piper Jaffray analyst JP McKim said he expects minimal impact to ISRG today. While developments like these in women's health are worth monitoring, the biggest drivers for Intuitive continues to be general surgery and growth outside the U.S., said McKim. Additionally, the FDA is not saying robotic surgery is worse, just that there is limited safety and effectiveness data on long term outcomes for the prevention or treatment of cancer, noted McKim, who keeps an Overweight rating on the stock.
