Piper Jaffray analyst Peter Appert downgraded Gartner to Underweight and lowered his price target for the shares to $113 from $116. The analyst says that while he's fan of the core IT research business, he believes the company has diluted its growth and profitability potential through the addition of CEB. The analyst cites Gartner's "disappointing" Q3 results, lower near-term estimates, and continued limited visibility into a turnaround of the acquired CEB business as the rationale for the downgrade to Underweight.
