Credit Suisse analyst Christian Buss lowered his price target for Nordstrom to $52 from $58 due to risks including deteriorating traffic and continued shift to lower-margin ecommerce sales. Nonetheless, the analyst believes Nordstrom represents the best-of-breed in the department store landscape, with an appropriate balance of exposure to brands with strong consumer demand, an emphasis on deep value preference of the consumer in Nordstrom Rack, appropriate ecommerce investments, tight inventory management and emphasis on speed to market. Buss reiterates an Outperform rating on the shares.
