Stifel analyst Patrick Ho identified KLA-Tencor (KLAC), Applied Materials (AMAT), and Nanometrics (NANO) as among the companies with the highest exposure to Intel's (INTC) logic segment after the chipmaker said its 2018 capex will increase to $15B due to additional 14nm capacity being brought on across its leading-edge network. Ho also believes materials companies like Entegris (ENTG) and Versum Materials (VSM) have good exposure to Intel logic, while FormFactor (FORM) should benefit from new 14nm designs. The firm has Hold ratings on Intel and Nanometrics and Buy ratings on the other stocks mentioned above.

Sees Q4 revenue $2.5B, +/- $125M, consensus $2.42B.

Reports Q3 revenue $2.36B, consensus $2.31B. "KLA's March quarter results were above our adjusted guidance as customer demand and company execution tracked consistent with our expectations," said Rick Wallace, president and CEO, KLA Corporation. "As we have highlighted over the past few quarters, market conditions have stabilized and we expect our business levels to improve as we progress through the year. We are encouraged by the improvement in our customers' businesses across multiple end markets and this improvement is translating into constructive discussions with our customers about future opportunities for leading edge capacity investments."

Pre-earnings options volume in Intel is normal with calls leading puts 2:1. Implied volatility suggests the market is anticipating a move near 5.6%, or $1.96, after results are released. Median move over the past eight quarters is 7.8%.
