Janney Capital analyst Ryan Byrnes increased his Q1 catastrophe loss estimate for Kemper to $40M from $9M after the company pre-announced its expected catastrophe losses for the quarter and he cut his Q1 EPS estimate to a loss of (6c) from a prior call for a 38c per share profit. Byrnes still sees the stock as "deservedly cheap due to its challenged P-C results, but he continues to think that new CEO Joe Lacher can turn around that business. The analyst keeps a Buy rating on Kemper shares.
