B. Riley FBR analyst Craig Kucera initiated coverage of Gladstone Land Corporation with a Buy rating and $13.50 price target. The analyst believes the company's strategy of focusing on farms in which tenants grow fresh produce that is locally delivered and distributed for consumption is "far more protected" from increasing international supply than commodity crops. Further, higher fresh produce economics at the producer level typically allow for better economics to a farm landlord, Kucera tells investors in a research note. Gladstone Land is an externally managed farmland real estate investment trust with a national portfolio of farmland tenanted by third parties, adds the analyst.
