Goldman said lululemon revised its price structure on its pants and bottoms on existing SKUs and new product introductions at different price points in early September. Analyst Lindsay Drucker Mann said price points were raised 2% on average across all bottoms styles carried over from August to September but said the magnitude of individual price change per style was material. Basic styles had big increases with core black WU Full-On Luon Crops and Pants getting a $16 increase, more than 20% higher. Drucker Mann sees risk of consumer push back given the magnitude of the increase, the availability of substitutes, and also how easily the replacement cycle for yoga bottoms can be extended. The analyst believes the new pricing will make it difficult to drive consumers up the price ladder and maintains her Sell rating and $48 price target.
