Piper Jaffray analyst Nicole Miller Regan downgraded McDonald's (MCD) to Neutral from Overweight with a price target of $195, down from $224. The stock in premarket trading is down 2%, or $4.35, to $189.59 after CEO Steve Easterbrook was let go due to a consensual relationship with employee. While the company's fundamentals are solid, CEO changes "of this magnitude tend to be disruptive," Regan tells investors in a research note. As such, the analyst is taking a "more cautionary view" on the shares, noting the potential lack of momentum and time involved in formalizing a new management team. She recommends a rotation into Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) shares.

Citi analyst Jon Tower raised the firm's price target on Krispy Kreme (DNUT) to $19 from $14 and keeps a Neutral rating on the shares. The company's "long-awaited" McDonald's (MCD) partnership came in better than expected, with Krispy Kreme set to see its products sold at most U.S. locations by 2027 versus earlier discussions of a couple thousand stores, the analyst tells investors in a research note. The firm estimates this partnership alone could add $400M in revenue and $85M in EBITDA after full rollout. While execution risk remains, the news is "clearly a positive" for Krispy Kreme and investors, providing greater sales visibility for a brand that's been struggling with GLP-1 headlines and softer spend from lower-income consumers, says Citi.

Bernstein raised the firm's price target on Chipotle to $3,200 from $2,800 and keeps an Outperform rating on the shares. Citing the recent launch of Chicken Al Pastor and momentum in in-store execution, the firm believes that the fundamental setup for 2024 is stronger and updated its same-store sales growth estimate to about 7% for 2024. The firm expects that Chipotle will reach $4M in average unit volume, or AUV, in five to six years, which it notes is ahead of consensus.
