Oppenheimer analyst Steven Lichtman says the Medtronic recall involving its Insulin pumps 630G and 670G is being classified as a Class 1 recall. Lichtman tells investors in a research note that he senses there isn't any new action on the ground required from this classification versus what the company communicated in its patient letter in November, and that with patients still under warranty, he wouldn't expect a noticeable near-term impact. However, he notes that the issue is overall still an incremental negative for Medtronic's diabetes business as it looks to curb share losses. The analyst made no change to his Outperform rating.
