Piper Jaffray analyst John Nadel expects a "meaningful rally" in shares of MetLife after the company announced it will pursue the separation of a significant portion of its U.S. Retail business. The rally will be driven by short covering and renewed interest in the shares given management's attempt to unlock value, Nadel tells investors in a research note. The analyst expects AIG (AIG) and Prudential (PRU) to "catch a sympathy bid" on the heels of MetLife's news. He has a Neutral rating on MetLife.
