Morgan Stanley analyst Simeon Gutman was positively surprised by the yesterday's investor meeting saying he did not fully appreciate the amount of innovation across the enterprise, merchandising, shopping experience, omni channel, and business opportunities. The analyst expects Q3 comps of +2%, which will enhance management credibility, demonstrate the stability of the business, and boost confidence. Gutman views Michaels' risk/reward as positive and reiterates his Overweight rating and $29 price target ahead of a same-store-sales rebound in the second half.
