Terumo on Friday sent a letter to customers informing them of a temporary supply disruption at one of its plants in Japan related to issues with an internal manufacturing process, Wells Fargo analyst Larry Biegelsen tells investors in a research note. Several of Terumo's guidewires and catheters products will be impacted, which creates a potential opportunity for Merit Medical Systems (MMSI), Biegelsen argues. The analyst believes Terumo's disruption represents a potential tailwind for Merit beginning in Q3, but admits it is premature to quantify the potential impact at this time. Biegelsen keeps an Outperform rating on Merit Medical.
