Bernstein says its channel checks indicate that average daily revenue in Macau during October 1-October 5, the beginning of the Golden Week holiday, jumped 49%-58% versus September levels. The firm says that both VIP and Mass busiiness was better than expected during the period, although it warns that casino results will have to be solid during the rest of the month for the current rally in Macau stocks to continue. Bernstein notes that several high-ranking government officials said that the government would take steps to aid Macau, but the firm warns that past statements of support by government officials have not always translated to improved results for the casinos. Still, Bernstein says that government support could positively surprise investors. It keeps an Outperform rating on Melco Crown (MPEL). Other casino operators with a significant presence in Macau include Las Vegas Sands (LVS), Wynn Resorts (WYNN), and MGM Respiorts (MGM).
