Don Bilson, who heads Gordon Haskett's event-driven research, noted earlier that Insperity disclosed late Friday that its board approved a new Executive Severance Plan on December 30. While he said that filings such as this "don't have very high hit rates," he also said "something" prompted the company's board to hand out new protections for the company's senior officers. If an activist "helped catalyze this compensation tweak," that should be known fairly soon since the company's board nomination window opens January 22, added Bilson, who also pointed out that Starboard suggested years ago that Insperity should get a market check and he previously stated back in November that "Starboard or someone else might decide that the pullback opened the door to a revisit."
