The most noteworthy move in the April Producer Price Index data is the 7% month-over-month rise in asphalt shingle prices, Jefferies analyst Philip Ng tells investors in a research note. This is encouraging for Owens Corning (OC) since the market is discounting its ability to improve roofing margins, Ng contends. He notes that paint prices also ticked higher, which he thinks should help Masco (MAS) offset some of its cost headwinds.
