As reported earlier, RBC Capital analyst Gerard Cassidy upgraded Regions Financial to Outperform from Sector Perform and raised his price target to $21 from $18. The analyst notes that the message from the non-deal roadshow in Europe was one of profitability optimization by "leveraging the core deposit base" as well as the company's capital return. Cassidy also raised his FY18 and FY19 EPS targets, reflecting shareholder returns of as much as $3B over the next 12 months and also Regions' rising net interest margins.
