On Friday, the U.S. Congress passed legislation extending the solar Investment Tax Credit and wind Production Tax Credit for 5 years. Credit Suisse analyst Patrcik Jobin said the extension removes the largest overhang in the sector, secures profitable growth for solar developers, and enables solar to become a cost-effective energy source in more markets, resulting in increased adoption. As a result, Jobin raised his long-term volume estimates for SolarCity (SCTY) and Sunrun (RUN) while increasing his price targets on shares $124 from $90 and $35 from $20, respectively. The analyst reiterates his Outperform ratings on both stocks.
