As previously reported, Bernstein analyst Mark Moerdler downgraded Splunk to Market Perform from Outperform as he believes growth is decelerating. The analyst has grown increasingly concerned that its strong reported revenue growth numbers in FY 2019 have been the result of increasing the duration on Term License contracts, which are now fully recognized up front under ASC 606, instead of ratably under ASC 605. Moerdler believes Splunk is likely still a potential acquisition target.
