BofA/Merrill's checks with Asian ODMs and OEMs indicates Q1 seasonal declines will be sharper than normal and Q2 visibility is extremely limited. The firm said FX volatility has resulted in channel partners remaining very conservative on taking on high priced inventory, resulting in weaker sell in for OEMs, and could result in further supply chain order cuts. BofA/Merrill is not convinced there will be a near-term demand recovery and sees further downside to Seagate estimates from weak notebooks and expects trends in desktops to be worse. Shares of Seagate are Underperform rated with a $50 price target.
