JPMorgan analyst Ryan Brinkman recommends Tenneco (TEN) as a hedge against long automaker positions. The potential for stricter emissions standards following the Volkswagen (VLKAY) scandal is a key risk for automakers, while Tenneco is a net beneficiary, Brinkman tells investors in a research note. Tenneco is a producer of clean air and ride performance products and systems. The analyst also recommends the company on its "strong and underappreciated secular leverage." Brinkman upped his price target for shares to $70 from $68 following the company's Q3 results. Automakers include General Motors (GM), Ford (F) and Volkswagen.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into Ford Motor's hands-free driving technology BlueCruise after two fatal crashes involving Mustang Mach-E SUVs striking parked vehicles, Reuters' David Shepardson reports. The agency's preliminary evaluation into 130,000 2021-2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles is the first step to determine whether the vehicles pose an unreasonable risk to safety, the author adds. Ford said it is working with the NHTSA to support its investigation. Reference Link
