Stifel analyst John Egbert noted that shares of both Trade Desk (TTD) and Criteo (CRTO) fell significantly on both Monday and Tuesday due to an Adweek report that Google (GOOGL) is considering significant changes to its consumer-facing products and advertising tools to better protect users' data privacy. He thinks the negative reaction in shares of Trade Desk seems overdone, stating that its ad business is not overly reliant on invasive forms of user tracking or ad targeting. Egbert noted that Trade Desk saw "almost no impact" from Apple's (AAPL) ITP rollout and the implementation of General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, in Europe. However, the even stronger negative reaction in shares of Criteo (CRTO) was more warranted, said Egbert, as the majority of its business is exposed to mobile and desktop Chrome browsers in some way. Speculation over Chrome changes will likely be an overhang on Criteo shares until Google makes its plans known, though investors should grow comfortable with Trade Desk's exposure to changes in privacy policies that could actually benefit the company over time, concluded Egbert. He maintains Hold ratings on both Trade Desk and Criteo.

TikTok Policy issued the following statement on the enactment of "the TikTok Ban": "This unconstitutional law is a TikTok ban, and we will challenge it in court. We believe the facts and the law are clearly on our side, and we will ultimately prevail. The fact is, we have invested billions of dollars to keep U.S. data safe and our platform free from outside influence and manipulation. This ban would devastate seven million businesses and silence 170 million Americans. As we continue to challenge this unconstitutional ban, we will continue investing and innovating to ensure TikTok remains a space where Americans of all walks of life can safely come to share their experiences, find joy, and be inspired." Publicly traded companies in the social media space that compete with TikTok include Meta Platforms (META), Alphabet (GOOGL), Pinterest (PINS) and Snap (SNAP). Reference Link
