William Blair analyst Bhavan Suri says one of Lyft's software engineers confirmed to him that Lyft will be adding Vonage's (VG) Nexmo as a potential alternative provider for its SMS, voice, and phone number needs. The addition of Nexmo as a potential alternative at Lyft is "obviously a negative" for Twilio (TWLO), Suri tells investors in a research note. Lyft has been a customer of Twilio for four years, the analyst points out. He tells investors, though, that shopping for less expensive options is nothing new and that Lyft will likely continue to use Twilio and other vendors. Suri keeps an Outperform rating on Twilio
