As previously reported, Wedbush analyst David Chiaverini upgraded Umpqua Holdings to Outperform from Neutral driven by his expectation that the company's Next Generation 2020 initiative should lead to faster earnings growth relative to peers, improving profitability metrics, and a much lower efficiency ratio as the company consolidates 1/3 of its store footprint. The analyst also raised his price target on the shares to $25 from $24.
