RBC Capital analyst Steven Cahall says that that Viacom (VIA,VIA.B) needs to divest its non-core networks. But he says that the company probably won't be able to do so on its own, since its profits would decline in the short-term following such a move and it's "facing a cash squeeze." A merger with CBS (CBS), however, would enable Viacom to carry out a "much needed restructuring of its cable networks," according to Cahall.
