Oppenheimer analyst Ittai Kidron raised his price target for VMware to $180 from $170 and added the shares to his firm's top picks. At the current valuation, the analyst believes there is still skepticism with respect to VMware's competitive positioning and ability to grow in the face of a cloud transition. However, his survey of VMware's customers indicate otherwise. Kidron left VMworld "incrementally positive" on VMWare's ability to execute on its any cloud/application/device strategy and drive further license growth. Further, his customer survey points to strong spending intentions and new product uptake ahead. The analyst stays bullish on VMware with an Outperform rating.
