Citi analyst Walter Pritchard points out that a press report yesterday, quoting sources in the Senate, suggested that a rider to delay the transition oversight of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority functions to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers from National Telecommunications and Information Administration control had been attached to the a funding bill to fund the federal government past September 30. The issue is complex and the implications for VeriSign's .com contract are not clear, Pritchard tells investors in a research note. The analyst, however, believes any uncertainty around the .com contract could drive a negative bias to shares in the near-term. He keeps a Sell rating on VeriSign with a $70 price target.
