As previously reported, Jefferies analyst Jonathan Petersen upgraded Ventas (VTR) to Buy from Hold with a price target of $68, up from $62. After analyzing Healthcare REITs, the analyst said he believed the "4x turn valuation discount that Ventas trades to Welltower (WELL) and Healthpeak (PEAK) is unwarranted," and he expects Ventas to "return to a valuation more in line with peers." He added that, in terms of demographics and customer satisfaction, he believes Welltower has a slight edge and that Ventas is better positioned vs. Healthpeak.
