Leerink analyst Ana Gupte notes Georgia's Department of Community Health announced yesterday awards for the rebid of its Georgia Families program. The contract was retained by incumbents Anthem (ANTM), Centene (CNC) and WellCare (WCG), with CareSource added as a fourth bidder, Gupte points out. Unsuccessful bidders included UnitedHealth (UNH), Humana (HUM) and Molina Healthcare (MOH). The news removes a key overhang for WellCare, which is exposed to Georgia Medicaid at 17% of earnings on normalized basis, the analyst tells investors in a research note. Gupte reiterates an Outperform rating on the stock with a $120 price target.

Wells Fargo raised the firm's price target on Centene (CNC) to $93 from $89 and keeps an Overweight rating on the shares. The firm notes Florida intends to award Medicaid contracts to Centene, Elevance Health (ELV), Humana (HUM) and two provider-run plans. Clearly the most positive for Centene given recent disappointing RFP performance and likely most disappointing for Molina Healthcare (MOH) given expectation for share gains, Wells says.
