William Blair analyst Justin Furby noted that Workday's Q3 billings guidance was more than $20M below the consensus forecast. The guidance surprised him and contradicts management's bullish pipeline commentary and the firm's recent partner surveys, the analyst told investors in a post-earnings research note. Furby, however, thinks the company's issued view is conservative and has a sense that Workday is setting up to beat expectations by a "similar amount" as it did this past quarter. The analyst maintains an Outperform rating on Workday shares.
