Nomura analyst Romit Shah noted that Street Insider claimed yesterday that Xilinx (XLNX) received a $15B takeover offer, but he believes that while a deal is "plausible" the chances of the company being acquired this year are low. Shah said that Xilinx CEO Moshe Gavrielov didn't "appear anxious to sell" when presenting at the company's analyst day this week, especially at a reported discount to the $17B that Altera got from Intel (INTC). Additionally, Intel's rationale for buying Altera doesn't carry over to other suppliers, such as Qualcomm (QCOM), that could be suitors for Xilinx, the analyst tells investors. Nomura keeps a Neutral rating and $41 price target on Xilinx shares.
