As reported earlier, Needham analyst N. Quinn Bolton initiated Xilinx with a Buy rating and a price target of $100. The analyst says the company invented the field-programmable gate array, or the FPGA, and today it is the largest vendor of this technology that is "entering a new growth phase driven by the adoption of accelerated computing". Bolton expects Xilinx to drive share gains in the data center market and is also positive on its position in the emerging 5G wireless network development, expecting these opportunities to produce accelerated revenue growth over the next several years.
