Mizuho said it was largely expected that Intrexon (XON) and ZIOPHARM Oncology (ZIOP) would use a partner for commercialization of candidates from their CAR-T program, but the firm said it is encouraged by the scale of partner Merck Serono, the biopharmaceutical division of Merck KGaA (MKGAY), and the speed of the deal. The firm sees the deal as an incremental positive for the stocks, but said it would wait for clinical data to become more constructive on both and maintains Neutral ratings on Intrexon and ZIOPHARM.
