As previously reported, BofA/Merrill upgraded U.S. Steel to Neutral from Underperform and raised its price target to $18 from $10. Analysts led by Timna Tanners raised its near-term steel price forecast and believes U.S. Steels's earnings outlook can be stable through 2017. The analyst said tight sheet markets support prices, potentially allowing for another round of increases and U.S. Steel's recent debt actions have removed near-term debt maturity risk.
