N.Y. FX Outlook: Risk-off was the theme overnight, triggered by a huge slump in China September exports. USD-JPY took a hit on safe-haven flows, taking the pairing down 100 points from its highs. EUR-USD meanwhile, traded to nearly three-month lows of 1.0985 before recovering to 1.1025, with Fed rate hike prospects continuing to weigh on the euro. The DXY posted new seven-month highs of 98.12, though has since edged into 97.70. Today's economic calendar features weekly jobless claims, which analysts expect will blip up to 250k from the prior 249k outcome. September import and export prices are due. Import prices are seen sliding 0.1% after the 0.2% slip in August, while export prices are expected to fall 0.2% after the prior 0.8% drop. Weekly oil inventory data are also due.
