JPMorgan lays out iPhone content winners and losers into launch event
JPMorgan analyst Harlan Sur believes Apple's (AAPL) launch event today will be positive for Broadcom (AVGO) and Qorvo (QRVO) as well as Micron (MU) and Intel (INTC). The analyst sees content gains by Broadcom in wireless charging, touch controller, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and GPS connectivity, and by Qorvo in low band power amplifier duplexers share and antenna tuning. Other companies with significant Apple exposure that would benefit from increased unit sales and/or modest content gains include Intel, Skyworks (SWKS), Knowles (KN), Micron, Cypress Semiconductor (CY), NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) and Texas Instruments (TXN), Sur tells investors in a research note. The analyst sees Analog Devices' (ADI) blended content at Apple declining as he believes the company will not be the touch controller for the OLED-version of the iPhone.

CA reasonable fair value in go-private could be $34-$42/share, says Evercore ISI
After Bloomberg said BMC Software's private equity owners are considering a potential deal to take CA Technologies private and combine the companies, Evercore ISI analyst Kirk Materne said there would be some obvious synergies for their respective mainframe businesses, though "one has to question how much juice there is left to squeeze on that side of the business." In such a merger/go-private deal scenario, he believes $34-$42 per share could be viewed as a reasonable fair value for CA. Materne keeps an Underperform rating and $32 price target on CA shares, though he acknowledges that once such go-private stories emerge, stocks "tend to remain locked in a range with limited downside risk."

After Bloomberg reported that CA (CA) was considering combining with BMC and going private and that talks were at an early stage, RBC Capital analyst Matthew Hedberg says "a deal is unlikely given its scale." Tech Data price target lowered to $100 from $115 at Citi
Citi analyst Jim Suva explains why shares of Tech Data (TECD) dropped 20% on last night's disappointing earnings report. The cloud is gaining traction, allowing some vendors to shift products internally as well as less distributor rebates, which is resulting in increased competition and lower financial incentives, Suva tells investors in a post-earnings research note. He views Tech Data's earnings report as a negative for Sell-rated Arrow Electronics (ARW) and Avnet (AVT) as well as Neutral-rated Synnex (SNX), but a positive for HP Inc. (HPQ) and Apple (AAPL) as top line sales of PCs and smartphones are doing well. Suva cut his price target for Tech Data shares to $100 from $115 and keeps a Neutral rating on the name.

Sigma Designs could become 'prime acquisition target,' says Benchmark
Following Sigma Designs' (SIGM) report of mixed Q1 results, Benchmark analyst Gary Mobley contends investors care about two main things: growing IoT revenue, which is being seen, and an "outright divestiture" of SmartTV assets. If Sigma can shed assets and become a pure play IoT chip/cloud infrastructure company, Mobley believes it could become a "prime acquisition target" for a radio frequency IC company such as Silicon Laboratories (SLAB) or MaxLinear (MXL). If it is not acquired but can raise $100M by selling non-core, non-IoT businesses, Sigma could make additional acquisitions to bolster its IoT focus, said Mobley, who keeps a Buy rating and $10 price target on the stock.

BTIG says Western Union positive reaction to MoneyGram news makes sense
BTIG analyst Mark Palmer said he believes the uptick in Western Union (WU) shares after the announcement of Euronet's (EEFT) offer to buy competitor MoneyGram (MGI) makes some sense as Euronet may be seen as less of a competitive threat than Alibaba's (BABA) Ant Financial, which previously struck a deal to buy MoneyGram, and the bid underscores the attractiveness and potential of the global remittance space. However, speculation that if Ant was unsuccessful in its effort to acquire MoneyGram it could look to acquire VeriFone (PAY) or Green Dot (GDOT) "makes less sense," said Palmer.

Visa, Cognizant added to Best Ideas List, FIS removed at Wedbush
Pre-open, Wedbush added Visa (V) and Cognizant (CTSH) to the Best Ideas List, and removed FIS (FIS) . Analyst Moshe Katri believes Cognizant digital revenue mix is 600 bps higher than reported, placing it as a top digital player among Tier 1 peers, which should provide incremental revenue growth and shield it from pricing compression in the legacy business. Katri thinks Visa's cost synergies from VE integration will prove conservative given Visa's knowledge of the business model and substantial pricing differential between VE and MasterCard (MA), as Visa continues to renew VE's book of business. Finally, the firm's research department removed FIS primarly due to lack of near-term catalysts.
