Trump takes aim at Amazon on Twitter
President Donald Trump criticized Amazon once again, with a series of tweets on Saturday morning saying: "While we are on the subject, it is reported that the U.S. Post Office will lose $1.50 on average for each package it delivers for Amazon. That amounts to Billions of Dollars. The Failing N.Y. Times reports that "the size of the company's lobbying staff has ballooned," and that... [..] ...does not include the Fake Washington Post, which is used as a "lobbyist" and should so REGISTER. If the P.O. "increased its parcel rates, Amazon's shipping costs would rise by $2.6 Billion." This Post Office scam must stop. Amazon must pay real costs (and taxes) now!" On Wednesday, Axios had reported that President Trump wants to go after tech giant Amazon (AMZN) and has discussed changing the company's tax treatment due to concerns about small retailers being put out of business. Citing five sources familiar with the matter, the publication added that Trump has wondered if there is any way to go after Amazon with antitrust or competition law as he thinks the e-commerce giant has gotten a free ride from taxpayers and the Postal service and that the company is killing shopping malls and brick-and-mortar retailers.
