Global stock markets move cautiously higher
Global stock markets move cautiously higher amid a more sanguine view on the trade outlook and with higher oil prices underpinning energy and raw material producers. Nikkei and ASX managed gains of 0.55% and 0.23% respectively amid a largely positive Asian session, although markets pared some of their early gains and Hang Seng and CSI 300 closed with losses of -0.07% and -0.71% after weak Chinese trade numbers. In Europe it was the FTSE 100 that underperformed again as the pound continued to strengthen, although the -0.07% dip looks pretty tame. The DAX meanwhile is led Eurozone markets higher with a gain of 0.69%. Dow Jones and S&P futures are up 0.169% and 0.196% respectively, while the NASDAQ futures is marginally lower on the day.
