Trivago Q1 positive for Booking, negative for TripAdvisor, says SunTrust
Trivago's (TRVG) Q1 results this morning and management's commentary provide a positive incremental read on the results for Booking Holdings (BKNG), are neutral for Expedia (EXPE) and a negative read on TripAdvisor (TRIP), SunTrust analyst Naved Khan tells investors in a research note. Booking's share of Trivago revenue came in better than expected while Expedia maintained its shares, the analtyst adds. On TripAdvisor, Khan notes that Trivago's results and 2018 outlook show that continuing return on investment changes by the online travel agencies remain a challenge to revenue growth for meta-search players.

Trivago price target lowered to $5.50 from $7.30 at DA Davidson
DA Davidson analyst Tom White lowered his price target on Trivago to $5.50 after the company's Q1 results, citing the 3% decline in revenues and lowered FY18 guidance. White says the investors should particularly monitor Trivago's revenue diversification efforts, with the progress thus far seen as limited as Booking Holdings (BKNG) and Expedia (EXPE) accounted for 76% of sales in the quarter. Given the limited visibility and a "fluid" monetization landscape, White keeps his Neutral rating on Trivago.

Booking Holdings initiated with a Neutral at DA Davidson
DA Davidson analyst Tom White initiated Booking Holdings (BKNG) with a Neutral rating and a price target of $2,260. White notes that as the leader in the online travel agency market, the company has a "tremendous" execution story and a playbook of maximizing hotel supply while also citing its data-driven customer acquisition marketing and "maniacal" e-commerce conversion optimization process. The analyst also points to Booking Holdings' push into "alternative accommodations" as well as further building its brand in high-growth markets like Asia. White warns however that in 2018 the company is facing greater supply competition from Expedia (EXPE) while also adjusting its marketing mix to favor "less accountable brand/TV advertising", opting for a more favorable valuation on the stock.

Amazon shelving pharma supply efforts to hospitals not surprising, says Leerink
Leerink analyst David Larsen notes that Amazon (AMZN) is said to be shelving its pharmaceutical supply efforts to hospitals, which he does not see as a suprise given several barriers to entry. The consumer market has always been Amazon's core competency, though he expects it will be a long, gradual, and difficult process of building up an online drug portfolio with an initial focus likely on generics. The analyst believes the risk of Amazon entering retail in the near term is reduced significantly. Nonetheless, Larsen thinks risk remains longer term for retail pharmacies such as CVS (CVS) and Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA).

Strength of Callaway's product lineup in 2018, improving golf market dynamics for supply/demand, and management's track record of conservatism should result in Q1 exceeding expectations with a modest raise to fiscal year guidance, Zaccone tells investors in a pre-earnings research note. Microsoft well positioned for another 'solid quarter of upside,' says KeyBanc
KeyBanc analyst Brent Bracelin says Microsoft remains one of his favorite cloud platforms to own in software. The analyst argues it is well positioned for "another solid quarter of upside" for Q3, driven by a continuation of robust secular tailwinds in cloud and digital that should be augmented by a cyclical refresh cycle. Further, Bracelin sees its growth trajectory inflecting higher this year as the cloud segment tops a $23B run-rate and margins further expand on operating efficiency at over $100B revenue scale. The analyst reiterates an Overweight rating and $110 price target on the shares.

Barclays says Western Digital, Seagate could be facing 'perfect storm'
Barclays analyst Mark Moskowitz raised his price target for Overweight-rated Western Digital (WDC) to $120 from $110 and for Underweight-rated Seagate Technology (STX) to $55 from $45 saying it "could be a perfect storm" for hard-disk-drives. Better demand and mix dovetail with tight supply, Moskowitz tells investors in a research note on the IT Hardware space. The analyst says that while he missed the year-to-date rally in Seagate, his new price target implies the stock largely has adjusted for the better end market conditions. He sees additional upside in Western Digital now that the Toshiba saga is in the rearview mirror and the company's recent refinancing provides flexibility to resume its share buyback.

J&J commentary positive for pure-play spine names, says Piper Jaffray
Piper Jaffray analyst Matt O'Brien is out discussing derivative calls following Johnson & Johnson's (JNJ) Q1 results. The orthopedic market looked relatively stable, though Hips were notably softer than expected, O'Brien tells investors in a research note. He believes Stryker (SYK) is "clearly taking market share," which he views as an incremental negative for Zimmer Biomet (ZBH). On Spine, some U.S. weakness was expected, but J&J's results could be viewed as concerning given continued weakness since Q3 of 2017, the analyst adds. He thinks the end markets "are ok" and the commentary on J&J losing share benefits pure-play spine names NuVasive (NUVA), Globus Medical (GMED), SeaSpine (SPNE) and K2M Group (KTWO). He believes the pure-plays continue to out-innovate and take share despite the weakness in the overall category. Johnson & Johnson's results also show that the U.S. lens market remains strong and is shifting to 1-Days lenses from weeklies/monthlies, which is a positive for Cooper Companies (COO), O'Brien contends. Lastly, the analyst says the decline in J&J's U.S. diabetes franchise from the Animas exit was faster than expected. This is good for the pump names Insulet (PODD) and Tandem Diabetes (TNDM) and a slight negative for Dexcom (DXCM) as some of those will end up at Medtronic (MDT), O'Brien argues. He continues to believe that both Insulet and Tandem "will gain more than their fair share" of Animas patients.

Too early to call Tandem Diabetes revenue beat a trend, says Piper Jaffray
Piper Jaffray analyst JP McKim noted that Tandem Diabetes announced preliminary Q1 revenue that beat his estimate of $24.8M and the consensus view near $25M. McKim, who thinks the company "clearly benefited" from the exit of Animas from the U.S. market, is incrementally more positive on Tandem but awaits more evidence of an accelerating growth trend before changing his Neutral rating on the stock.

Tandem Diabetes upgraded to Outperform on market share gains at Cowen
As reported previously, Cowen analyst Doug Schenkel upgraded Tandem Diabetes (TNDM) to Outperform from Market Perform. The analyst cited his recent diabetes devices survey, which suggested the company is picking up market share from Animas' market exit and he sees excitement about its integration with Dexcom (DXCM). Schenkel raised his price target to $7 from $5 on Tandem Diabetes shares.
