NXP Semiconductors price target lowered to $120 from $130 at Needham
Needham analyst Rajvindra Gill lowered his price target on NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) to $120 to reflect last week's sell-off that followed its earnings, buyback, and terminated Qualcomm (QCOM) deal. The analyst also keeps his Strong Buy rating and believes that investors will re-evaluated the shares, given that the company's revenue mix is much healthier on combination of auto, industrial and internet of things end markets, while the revenues lost from ZTE (ZTCOY) component import ban should resume in Q3.

Barclays downgrades Hess to Underweight on 'steepest' group premium
Barclays analyst Paul Cheng downgraded Hess Corp. (HES) to Underweight from Equal Weight while raising his price target for the shares to $66 from $55. The analyst says his analysis indicates Hess trades at the "steepest premium" in the group. His Guyana estimate would need to move 75%-100% higher for Hess to trade in-line with large-cap Exploration and Production companies. Cheng replaced Cenovus Energy (CVE) with ConocoPhillips (COP) as his top pick following the stock's strong share performance. He also double upgraded Petrobras (PBR) Overweight from Underweight, upgraded Husky Energy (HUSKF) to Overweight and Imperial Oil (IMO) to Equal Weight. The analyst thinks Hess and Exxon Mobil (XOM) offer the least value over the next 12 months.

IBM momentum in Strategic Imperatives continuing, says Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty noted that investors often associate incumbency with risk, but she believes IBM's (IBM) penetration of 70% of the world's business data as a competitive advantage as she sees signs to suggest its momentum in signing Strategic Imperative deals is continuing. Strategic Imperative growth accelerated 3 points year-over-year in Q2, while estimated Core declines have been relatively stable, noted Huberty. Further supporting her view is the fact that the firm's Q2 CIO survey suggested that IBM ranks ahead of traditional consulting vendors like Accenture (ACN) on digital transformation, Huberty said. She maintains an Overweight rating and $185 price target on IBM shares.

Bed Bath & Beyond downgraded to Underperform at Raymond James
As previously reported, Raymond James analyst Beryl Bugatch downgraded Bed Bath & Beyond to Underperform from Market Perform following quarterly results. Despite the array of initiatives announced by management, a key issue for the analyst is that the fleet of over 1,000 legacy Bed Bath & Beyond stores continue to deliver in-store mid-single-digit comp sales declines. Without some underlying growth in management generated earnings over the next two years, shareholder value is likely to erode further, he adds. Nonetheless, Bugatch points out that at its current valuation, Bed Bath may attract "activist" interest.

Mylan may have negative read-through from Teva report, says Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo analyst David Maris highlighted some items in Teva's (TEVA) Q2 earnings report and conference call that he believes may have a negative read-through for Mylan (MYL). For one, Teva management said they expect the North American generics environment to remain challenging. Additionally, Copaxone sales were relatively flat sequentially, which would be a negative for Mylan if expectations are for increased contribution from Mylan's Copaxone generic in Q2. Mylan has a large pipeline of biosimilars and Teva mentioned it is building a facility for biosimilars in Germany, which indicates more competition, added Maris, who keeps a Market Perform rating on Mylan shares.

Novartis report has negative read through for Teva, Mylan, says Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo analyst David Maris noted that Novartis (NVS) lowered its 2018 guidance for Sandoz along with its Q2 report and reportedly told Bloomberg that it would consider selling the generic drug unit. He sees a negative read through for companies with large U.S. commodity generic exposure, such as Teva (TEVA) and Mylan (MYL), from Novartis' report, Maris tells investors. He also noted that Novartis said it will not increase prices on its drugs in the U.S. for the rest of 2018, as Pfizer (PFE) recently has also said, calling this "a wise approach and correct read of the increasing intensity of the scrutiny around rising healthcare costs." Maris continues to expect the " chilling effect" on price increases to spread through the industry. Lastly, the analyst pointed out that the Amgen-partnered (AMGN) launch of Aimovig is off to a strong start, which he believes bodes well for Teva's fremanezumab and Eli Lilly's (LLY) galcanezumab.

Deutsche downgrades three airlines on 'headline risk' from trade dispute
Deutsche Bank analyst Michael Linenberg downgraded his ratings on American Airlines Group (AAL), Delta Air Lines (DAL) and United Continental (UAL) to Hold from Buy. The analyst cut his price target for American to $43 from $60, for Delta to $53 from $64 and for United to $74 from $81. In a world of "heightened" macroeconomic and geopolitical risks, economically-sensitive, high beta stocks such as airlines typically underperform the broader market, Linenberg tells investors in a research note. The possibility that the current trade dispute between the U.S. and its global partners could become something bigger is problematic for the airline industry's sales growth, the analyst adds. Further, Linenberg argues, the growing trade dispute may cause U.S. companies to reconsider their spending and employment plans, which would adversely impact corporate travel. As a result, the analyst sees "headline risk" and a lack of near-term catalysts for the airline stocks. He keeps Buy ratings on Alaska Air (ALK), Allegiant Travel (ALGT), JetBlue Airways (JBLU), Southwest Airlines (LUV), Spirit Airlines (SAVE) and SkyWest (SKYW).
