U.S. equities are sustaining their gains
U.S. equities are sustaining their gains despite the hiccup on the 3-year auction and after volatility surrounding Tesla and the "considering going private" tweet from CEO Musk, who followed up with "Good morning." The uptick in Treasury yields hasn't deterred investors more broadly, while boosting financial sector stocks. Europe finished strong with 0.6% rise on the Euro Stoxx 50 and 0.7% gain on the UK FTSE 100. The VIX equity volatility index is 1.5% lower near 11.09, but above its earlier low of 10.52. For the Dow, the advance/decline ratio is 73:59, with 117 stocks at 52-week highs. The S&P 500 +0.33% came within a half percent of record highs, marked by 2,872.8 on January 26. Apple is 0.85% lower after earlier reports that it could be used as a "bargaining chip" in the trade war, according to Chinese state press.
