Spotify price target raised to $230 from $195 at BofA/Merrill
BofA/Merrill analyst Jessica Reif raised her price target on Spotify to $230 after the company's Q2 results that showed improving subscription gains offset in part by "softer" average revenue per user and "lighter" monthly active user count. The analyst is also positive on Spotify's stable geographic diversification of sales and a "high rate of programmatic and premium video advertising growth of 44% and 28%". Reif kept her Buy rating on Spotify, anticipating continued MAU growth driven by emerging markets expansion, Family Plan adoption, and growth in historically physical markets.

Boeing, Tesla, Nvidia make Morgan Stanley 'key man risk' list
Morgan Stanley equity strategist Mark Savino noted that about 12% of CEO jobs among S&P 500 companies turned over in 2017, noting that this was the highest level of CEO departures since before the financial crisis. The 59 stocks of S&P 500 companies that had CEOs depart in 2017 underperformed the market by 11% over the next 12 months, or since the departure for instances that were less than 12 months ago, noted Savino. In cooperation with the firm's U.S. analysts, Savino and his team identified the companies in each sector they believe face the greatest level of "key man risk," which includes: Boeing (BA), Tesla (TSLA), ADT Inc. (ADT), Moody's (MCO), TransUnion (TRU), Arista Networks (ANET), Church & Dwight (CHD), Coca-Cola (KO), Monster Beverage (MNST), Coupa Software (COUP), Salesforce (CRM), FireEye (FEYE), MongoDB (MDB), Microsoft (MSFT), New Relic (NEWR), XPO Logistics (XPO), Hilton (HLT), Las Vegas Sands (LVS), Best Buy (BBY), Ulta (ULTA), Aflac (AFL), Athene Holding (ATH), Lincoln National (LNC), Arthur J. Adobe shares can hit $320 over next 18 months, says UBS

Raymond James 'skeptical' about Blue Orca claims against GDS Holdings
After Blue Orca Capital published a short report on GDS Holdings (GDS) that sunk the stock yesterday, Raymond James analyst Frank Louthan IV said the issues that investors he spoke with called the most concerning were the claims of potential overstating of utilized space and the allegations of potential inflating of purchase prices of land and buildings between related parties. Given the credibility and due diligence of two large investors, namely STT and CyrusOne (CONE), as well as his own trip to Shanghai, Louthan said he is "skeptical that these claims bear as much weight as the report implies," but added that he is still working to gather "harder evidence." Southwest would be good strategic fit for Berkshire, says Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley analyst Kai Pan noted that Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) has shifted tone in recent years and become a top three shareholder of the "Big Four" U.S. airlines, including Southwest (LUV). Media reports from Forbes, CNN and others have discussed a possible acquisition by Berkshire of the airline, added Pan, who said he has no knowledge of any M&A discussions and noted that the airlines have not commented. Given that background, he analyzed a theoretical acquisition and came to the conclusion that Southwest could be a strategic fit for Berkshire and the advantages could also be compelling for the airline. Pan estimates Berkshire could pay a 20-40% premium, or $70-80 per share for Southwest, in such a hypothetical takeover situation, in which he also thinks Berkshire would divest its current holdings in American Airlines (AAL), Delta (DAL) and United Continental (UAL). Pan has an Overweight rating and $67 price target on Southwest shares.

Fly Intel: Today's top analyst calls on Wall Street
Check out today's top analyst calls from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly. JEFFERIES UPS RATING, TARGET FOR CHIPOTLE: Jefferies analyst Andy Barish upgraded Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) to Buy from Hold and raised his price target for the shares to $550 from $400. Barish believes Chipotle is one of the better positioned companies to benefit from the ongoing shift to digital/off-premise. The company's operations are now poised to again handle increased volume and throughput, the analyst contended. Further, he believes new management's plans are "credible" and should help drive results in 2019 and beyond. The analyst called the stock a top mid-cap pick. NOMURA UPGRADES TWITTER TO NEUTRAL: Nomura Instinet analyst Mark Kelley upgraded Twitter (TWTR) to Neutral from Reduce with an unchanged price target of $31. After selling off 27% since the Q2 earnings report on July 27, expectations have been appropriately reset, Kelley told investors. The analyst believes Twitter's investments to clean up the platform will prove a longer term positive and lead to a more engaged user base. BARCLAYS PREFERS DEERE TO CATERPILLAR: Barclays analyst Adam Seiden downgraded Caterpillar (CAT) to Equal Weight from Overweight and lowered his price target for the shares to $155 from $170. The company's largest end-markets are no longer at trough, and the analyst believes Caterpillar's second half of 2018 price initiatives, directed towards offsetting supply chain and materials cost increases, will limit its ability to expand margins. The analyst prefers shares of Deere (DE) and CNH Industrial (CNH), which he says are at similar valuations but are earlier in their market cycles. CITI SAYS SELL WISDOMTREE: Citi analyst William Katz placed a low probability on Franklin Resources (BEN) acquiring WisdomTree (WETF), and downgraded WisdomTree to Sell, lowering his price target for the shares to $7 from $10. The analyst downgraded the shares to Neutral on July 13. Katz believes WisdomTree's price-to-earnings multiple can further contract amid mixed flow dynamics and flat earnings growth prospects out to 2020. JPMORGAN SAYS GOPRO MAY SEE SHORT SQUEEZE: JPMorgan analyst Paul Coster believes "muted" expectations and elevated short-interest could position GoPro (GPRO) shares for a "short squeeze" rally after the company's Q2 results. The analyst expects the company to post an in-line quarter. GoPro must entice existing users to upgrade to a new flagship camera expected to be released in early Q4, and convert new users for a product category that "feels a bit long in the tooth now," Coster said. He lowered his price target for GoPro shares to $7 from $8 and kept a Neutral rating on GoPro.

ServiceNow price target raised to $200 from $163 at JPMorgan
JPMorgan analyst Sterling Auty raised his price target for ServiceNow to $200 citing the company's "solid" Q2 beat in subscription revenue and billings. The company's outlook is being weighed down by currency, but normalizing for FX, guidance is going up "showing the health of the underlying demand," Auty tells investors in a research note. He keeps a Neutral rating on shares of ServiceNow. The analyst says the company's valuation remains in the upper tiers of software and that he'd like to see a better entry point.

Booking Holdings (BKNG) downgraded to Neutral from Buy at Citi and UBS as well as Neutral from Overweight at JPMorgan. 3. Sysco (SYY) downgraded to Sell from Hold at Pivotal Research with analyst Ajay Jain saying he believes the move up in the stock over the past three months is inconsistent with growing industry headwinds as well as Sysco's company-specific issues. 4. Redfin downgraded to Neutral from Buy at DA Davidson
DA Davidson analyst Tom White downgraded Redfin to Neutral from Buy and lowered his price target to $22 from $28 after its Q2 results and below-consensus Q3 guidance. The analyst states that the fundamental outlook for the company for the next several quarters appears to have "significantly weakened", with outperformance for the stock in the next 12 months becoming unlikely. Despite the strong Q2, White points to a "sharp" volume slowdown in July, with low levels of for-sale home inventory and the upward pressure on home prices eroding the buyer power in the company's key markets. With the emerging macro challenges, the analyst contends that it will be more difficult for Redfin to deliver meaningful upside to sales and profits.

Etsy fee increase made from position of strength, says Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Nowak said Etsy's (ETSY) planned fee increase is a "smart strategic move from a position of strength" that will bring it into closer alignment with third-party commission rates charged by eBay (EBAY), Amazon (AMZN) and JD.com (JD). While the higher fees will help Etsy invest to attract new buyers, increase marketing and enhance support, Nowak believes the stock's current valuation relative to growth is already pricing in execution and return on these investments, he tells investors. Nowak is reviewing his estimates for Etsy, but currently has an Underweight rating on the stock.

Analyst Gautam Khanna said contract talks between TransDigm and Boeing (BA) are close to being agreed upon with no major threats to TransDigm, and concerns regarding deal economics appear to be misplaced. Further, the Department of Defense procurement rule as of July 1 may actually provide TransDigm with more pricing power versus the old policy, Khanna wrote in a note to investors. The analyst adds, the Department of Defense inquiry is also nearing completion with any fines likely to be minimal, end markets are improving, and the company has $2.3B available for M&A or dividends.

Amazon summit highlights long cloud growth runway, says Baird
After having attended the AWS Summit in Chicago this week, Baird analyst Colin Sebastian said his talks with several enterprise IT decision makers highlight Amazon's "clear advantage" in product breadth and go-to-market capabilities despite the fact that cloud services competition is "undoubtedly intensifying" from Microsoft's (MSFT) Azure and Alphabet's (GOOGL) Google Cloud Platform. Most large-scale enterprises are still in the early days of cloud migration, which bodes well for the long-term growth outlook for AWS along with Azure and Google Cloud, Sebastian concluded. Piper believes Amazon's ad business should be valued at $150B-$190B
Amazon.com's advertising business "has been quietly growing into a massive driver of current and future profitability," Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson tells investors in a research note. The analyst estimates that in 2018, Amazon advertising revenue will be around $8B, potentially contributing greater than $3B to operating profit. By 2020, he expects Amazon ad revenue of $16B and by 2021, he believes it is highly likely that profits contributed from advertising will exceed those from Amazon Web Services. Applying an advertising comp multiple of 16 times to estimated 2020 Amazon advertising operating income suggests an ad business that should be valued at $150B-$190B, Olson contends. As such, he believes investors "should be focused on Amazon advertising now." The analyst reiterates an Overweight rating on Amazon shares with a $2,100 price target. The stock closed Friday down $12.22 to $1,886.30.

Fly Intel: Today's top analyst calls on Wall Street
Check out today's top analyst calls from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly. GOLDMAN SACHS CUTS ALNYLAM TO BUY: Goldman Sachs analyst Terence Flynn downgraded Alnylam (ALNY) to Buy from Conviction Buy. The analyst also lowered his price target for the shares to $155 from $193. Flynn said the lack of cardio data in the approved U.S. label for Onpattro is disappointing and could represent a disadvantage versus Pfizer's (PFE) competitor drug Tafamadis. Piper Jaffray analyst Edward Tenthoff recommended buying shares of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals on weakness following the approval of Onpattro. Morgan Stanley analyst David Lebowitz lowered his price target to $93, Nomura Instinet analyst Christopher Marai lowered his price target to $73, and Stifel analyst Paul Matteis maintained a Buy rating but cut his price target to $123 from $125 and slightly lowered his revenue ramp for the drug based on modestly reduced share in mixed-phenotype haTTR patients and lower share in cardiac-only haTTR patients. B. Riley FBR analyst Madhu Kumar raised his price target to $230. RUBIUS THERAPEUTICS INITIATED AT MULTIPLE FIRMS: Rubius Therapeutics (RUBY) was initiated with an Outperform at Leerink, an Overweight at JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley, as well as a Buy at Jefferies. PIPER JAFFRAY SAYS AMAZON AD BUSINESS GROWING INTO PROFIT DRIVER: Amazon's (AMZN) advertising business "has been quietly growing into a massive driver of current and future profitability," Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson told investors in a research note. Applying an advertising comp multiple of 16 times to estimated 2020 Amazon advertising operating income suggests an ad business that should be valued at $150B-$190B, Olson contended. IMPERIAL CAPITAL CUTS NETFLIX PRICE TARGET TO $494: Imperial Capital analyst David Miller lowered his price target for Netflix (NFLX) to $494 after he slightly reduced his global subscriber estimates. The analyst said that in the "interest of being conservative," he decreased his fiscal 2018 global subscriber estimate to 141.2M from 141.4M and fiscal 2019 global subscriber estimate to 164.4M from 166.3M. DISH DOWNGRADED TO SELL AT MOFFETTNATHANSON: MoffettNathanson analyst Craig Moffett downgraded Dish (DISH) to Sell from Neutral with a price target of $29 and noted that while the reported Q2 business conditions in the core satellite TV business were "genuinely better" amid reduced churn and slower subscriber losses, the Spectrum segment -- which holds "all" of the company's equity value -- is worse.

After Party City deal, Credit Suisse finds Michaels selling on Amazon too
As previously reported, Credit Suisse analyst Seth Sigman reported that he has found Michael's (MIK) selling products on Amazon's (AMZN) marketplace via the company's "Darice" wholesale brand. This finding came after Party City (PRTY) disclosed earlier this morning that it would starting selling on the Amazon marketplace. He keeps an Outperform rating on Michael's share, which are up 4% to $21.02 in late morning trading.
