Morgan Stanley continues to see better risk-reward in rails other than CSX
Morgan Stanley analyst Ravi Shanker said CSX (CSX) is clearly taking advantage of the strong freight environment and its new management team is executing and delivering on their promises. However, he also thinks they are making up for lagging volumes with cost cutting and he believes railroads showing sustainable topline growth at good margins, such as Canadian National (CNI) and Canadian Pacific (CP), deserve to trade at a premium to railroads that are growing EPS primarily by cost cutting. Shanker, who continues to see "significantly better risk-reward" elsewhere in rails, keeps an Underweight rating on CSX and raised his price target on the shares to $52 from $49.

Canadian Pacific price target raised to CAD275 from CAD252 at Loop Capital
Loop Capital analyst Rick Paterson raised his price target on Canadian Pacific to CAD 275 after its "handy" Q2 earnings in spite of stoppage- related low expectations going into the result. The analyst also points to the management's "no excuses" attitude for the second half of 2018 and believes the company has a "clear pre-winter runway with presumably good volume and pricing growth". Paterson keeps his Buy rating on Canadian Pacific, stating his price target change is also driven by the "routine" quarterly roll forward of his earnings model.

Nvidia 'remains unquestionably' the leader in graphics, says Evercore ISI
After Nvidia yesterday unveiled its new Quadro GPU family, Evercore ISI analyst C.J. Muse says the company remains, "unquestionably," the worldwide leader in graphics. The Quadro GPU family should drive accelerated growth in Nvidia's Pro-Viz business, Muse tells investors in a research note. He believes the company continues to build the defacto standard for artificial intelligence with its CUDA platform creating a "sustainable advantage." He looks for Nvidia to exit 2018 at an earnings per share run-rate of $9-plus, above today's consensus estimate of $8.24. Muse sees "clear support" for his $11 earnings run-rate by 2020, which he says makes his $275 price target "likely conservative." The analyst reiterates an Outperform rating on shares of Nvidia. The stock in midday trading is up $4.81 to $260.93.

Nvidia expectations low into Q2 results, says Jefferies
Jefferies analyst Mark Lipacis sees low expectations for Nvidia into the company's Q2 results. He thinks expectations are low due to a $200M quarter-over-quarter decline in cryptocurrency revenue, the company's Pascal gaming GPU being two years old, and the Street's call for a 130 basis point quarter-over-quarter gross margin. The analyst is a buyer of Nvidia shares. He expects a new gaming GPU in Q3 to drives sales in Q4 and 2019. Lipacis keeps a Buy rating on the shares with a $320 price target.

Morgan Stanley downgrades semiconductor industry view to Cautious
Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore said he has become less constructive on semiconductor stocks through the year and he now believes elevated inventory levels and stretched lead times leave "no margin for error." Given his view that any lead time adjustment or demand slowdown could drive a "meaningful correction," Moore has downgraded his semiconductor industry view to Cautious from In-Line. He favors connector companies, like Amphenol (APH) and TE Connectivity (TEL) over analog/MCU at this point in the cycle, due to lower risk around lead time issues, Moore said. He also has a "strong preference" for high margin and more defensive models, such as Analog Devices (ADI) over lower margin and commodity exposed ones, like Cypress Semiconductor (CY) and ON Semiconductor (ON), he said. Despite his more cautious view on the space, Moore keeps Overweight ratings on Nvidia (NVDA), Xilinx (XLNX) and Ambarella (AMBA), citing his view that they should benefit from secular growth in the area of AI, data center, and autonomous. Other semiconductor names include Microchip (MCHP), Qorvo (QRVO), Micron (MU), Intel (INTC), Broadcom (AVGO) and Qualcomm (QCOM).

Boeing, Tesla, Nvidia make Morgan Stanley 'key man risk' list
Morgan Stanley equity strategist Mark Savino noted that about 12% of CEO jobs among S&P 500 companies turned over in 2017, noting that this was the highest level of CEO departures since before the financial crisis. The 59 stocks of S&P 500 companies that had CEOs depart in 2017 underperformed the market by 11% over the next 12 months, or since the departure for instances that were less than 12 months ago, noted Savino. In cooperation with the firm's U.S. analysts, Savino and his team identified the companies in each sector they believe face the greatest level of "key man risk," which includes: Boeing (BA), Tesla (TSLA), ADT Inc. (ADT), Moody's (MCO), TransUnion (TRU), Arista Networks (ANET), Church & Dwight (CHD), Coca-Cola (KO), Monster Beverage (MNST), Coupa Software (COUP), Salesforce (CRM), FireEye (FEYE), MongoDB (MDB), Microsoft (MSFT), New Relic (NEWR), XPO Logistics (XPO), Hilton (HLT), Las Vegas Sands (LVS), Best Buy (BBY), Ulta (ULTA), Aflac (AFL), Athene Holding (ATH), Lincoln National (LNC), Arthur J. BOFA CUTS ZILLOW TO NEUTRAL: BofA Merrill Lynch analyst Nat Schindler downgraded Zillow (Z, ZG) to Neutral from Buy and cut its price target to $60 from $70 following the Q2 report and reduction in guidance. Schindler said the quarter indicated Zillow is taking longer than expected to ramp up the Homes business, Rentals revenue missed and the outlook was cut, and other revenue also missed, indicating the new construction opportunity is also taking longer to materialize. Zillow Class A shares are down about 17% in late morning trading. MORGAN STANLEY SAYS WAYMO COULD BE WORTH $175B: Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Nowak increased his enterprise value estimate for Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Waymo unit from $75B for ride sharing only to $175B given his analyses for two other emerging business models, logistics and licensing. He believes Waymo remains on track to launch an autonomous ride hailing service in Phoenix this year and believes this business could be worth about $80B over the long-term. Given his view of Waymo being a key part of Alphabet's long-term value, Nowak raised his sum of the parts valuation to $1,550 from $1,400. He has an Overweight rating and $1,325 price target on Alphabet shares. GOLDMAN RAISES NVIDIA TARGET AHEAD OF EARNINGS: Goldman Sachs analyst Toshiya Hari raised his price target for Nvidia (NVDA) to $324 from $310 ahead of quarterly results. Unlike the past 10 quarters where the company handily beat Street estimates and raised guidance, the analyst expects a "noisy" quarter with the focal points being the upcoming product transition in Gaming, the current product transition in Datacenter, weakness in cryptocurrency mining, and potential disruption from the virus attack at TSMC (TSM). That said, Hari noted that his long-term bull thesis on Nvidia remains intact and reiterated a Buy rating on the shares. ARGUS CUTS CBS TO HOLD: Argus analyst Joseph Bonner downgraded CBS (CBS) to Hold from Buy, noting significant downside risks for the company from both the sexual harassment allegations against CEO Moonves and the board's attempts to prevent the Viacom (VIA, VIAB) merger. Nvidia can selloff near-term on graphics commentary, says Citi
Citi analyst Atif Malik says his recent supply chain checks indicate discrete graphics gaming demand is expected to remain sluggish thru the September quarter due to a "sharp decline" in mining related demand on falling cryptocurrency prices, channel distributors and partners waiting for Nvidia's (NVDA) new Turing gaming card launch in the October quarter, and weak gaming console sales at Microsoft (MSFT) offset by the Nintendo (NTDOY) Switch. The analyst lowered his July and October quarter estimates for Nvidia to bring them in-line with consensus. He thinks the stock can selloff in the near-term on weaker than expected graphics commentary from TSMC (TSM), who reports on July 19, and AMD (AMD), who reports on July 25. Malik, however, keeps a Buy rating on Nvidia with a $300 price target. He believes his long-term thesis on the shares remains intact.

Wynn Resorts downgraded to Hold from Buy at Jefferies
Jefferies analyst David Katz downgraded Wynn Resorts to Hold and lowered his price target for the shares to $170 from $229. The recent board additions and standstill agreement with the largest shareholder reduces the "speculative premium in the shares," Katz tells investors in a research note. He believes the changes suggest the ownership structure is not likely to change for two years. Further, competition in Macau is likely to remain a "persistent dynamic," the analyst adds.

At the meeting, new CEO Kevin Stein reiterated that he intends to follow in Howley's footsteps, maintaining TransDigm's outsized growth rates and M&A strategy, and both Stein and Howley "offered a high degree of confidence" that Boeing's (BA) PFS 2.0 will not imapct its financial performance.

TransDigm upgraded to Outperform on reduced risks at Cowen
As previously reported, Cowen upgraded TransDigm (TDG) to Outperform from Market Perform with a $408 price target telling investors fundamental threats to TransDigm's aftermarket/M&A playbook are abating. Analyst Gautam Khanna said contract talks between TransDigm and Boeing (BA) are close to being agreed upon with no major threats to TransDigm, and concerns regarding deal economics appear to be misplaced. Further, the Department of Defense procurement rule as of July 1 may actually provide TransDigm with more pricing power versus the old policy, Khanna wrote in a note to investors. The analyst adds, the Department of Defense inquiry is also nearing completion with any fines likely to be minimal, end markets are improving, and the company has $2.3B available for M&A or dividends.

Amazon summit highlights long cloud growth runway, says Baird
After having attended the AWS Summit in Chicago this week, Baird analyst Colin Sebastian said his talks with several enterprise IT decision makers highlight Amazon's "clear advantage" in product breadth and go-to-market capabilities despite the fact that cloud services competition is "undoubtedly intensifying" from Microsoft's (MSFT) Azure and Alphabet's (GOOGL) Google Cloud Platform. Most large-scale enterprises are still in the early days of cloud migration, which bodes well for the long-term growth outlook for AWS along with Azure and Google Cloud, Sebastian concluded. Piper believes Amazon's ad business should be valued at $150B-$190B
Amazon.com's advertising business "has been quietly growing into a massive driver of current and future profitability," Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson tells investors in a research note. The analyst estimates that in 2018, Amazon advertising revenue will be around $8B, potentially contributing greater than $3B to operating profit. By 2020, he expects Amazon ad revenue of $16B and by 2021, he believes it is highly likely that profits contributed from advertising will exceed those from Amazon Web Services. Applying an advertising comp multiple of 16 times to estimated 2020 Amazon advertising operating income suggests an ad business that should be valued at $150B-$190B, Olson contends. As such, he believes investors "should be focused on Amazon advertising now." The analyst reiterates an Overweight rating on Amazon shares with a $2,100 price target. Fly Intel: Today's top analyst calls on Wall Street
Check out today's top analyst calls from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly. GOLDMAN CUTS INTEL, UPGRADES AMD: Goldman Sachs analyst Toshiya Hari downgraded Intel (INTC) to Sell from Neutral and lowered his price target for the shares to $44 from $49. Hari coupled the downgrade with an upgrade of AMD (AMD) to Neutral from Sell. Intel's struggles with 10nm process technology made the analyst incrementally more negative on the company's competitive positioning and margin outlook. He expects a worsening product mix in the near-term, ramp in 10nm costs and growing depreciation to drive margin pressure and Intel's earnings below consensus expectations. The delay in Intel's new products will allow AMD to gain share in not only client computer processing units, and also in the "lucrative" server CPU market, Hari contended. He believes this makes for a balanced risk/reward profile on AMD shares. In late morning trading, Intel is down 2.5% and AMD is up fractionally. BOOKING HOLDINGS DOWNGRADED AT MULTIPLE FIRMS: UBS analyst Eric Sheridan downgraded Booking Holdings (BKNG) to Neutral from Buy and lowered his price target for the shares to $2,060 from $2,320 following the company's Q2 results. JPMORGAN CUTS CAMPBELL SOUP TO UNDERWEIGHT: JPMorgan analyst Ken Goldman downgraded Campbell Soup (CPB) to Underweight from Neutral with a $36 price target, saying he believes a sale of the company at a significant premium is unlikely. CANTOR SEES MANY REASONS FOR UNITEDHEALTH ACQUIRING ATHENAHEALTH: Numerous media sources cited a Dealreporter story indicating that UnitedHealth (UNH) is now in the second round of bidding for Athenahealth (ATHN), Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Steven Halper said in a research note. With or without the deal, the analyst expects UnitedHealth will deploy capital and grow its various Optum businesses over time. He reiterated an Overweight rating on shares with a $300 price target.

On The Fly: Top five analyst downgrades
Catch up on today's top five analyst downgrades with this list compiled by The Fly: 1. Intel (INTC) downgraded to Sell from Neutral at Goldman Sachs with analyst Toshiya Hari saying Intel's struggles with 10nm process technology makes the analyst incrementally more negative on the company's competitive positioning and margin outlook. 2. Booking Holdings (BKNG) downgraded to Neutral from Buy at Citi and UBS as well as Neutral from Overweight at JPMorgan. 3. Sysco (SYY) downgraded to Sell from Hold at Pivotal Research with analyst Ajay Jain saying he believes the move up in the stock over the past three months is inconsistent with growing industry headwinds as well as Sysco's company-specific issues. 4. Campbell Soup (CPB) downgraded to Underweight from Neutral at JPMorgan with analyst Ken Goldman saying he agrees with activist Third Point that Campbell's best option is to sell the company; however, he sees a sale as an unlikely outcome. 5. Redfin (RDFN) downgraded to Neutral from Buy at DA Davidson with analyst Tom White citing its Q2 results and below-consensus Q3 guidance. Outperform
Booking Holdings setup looking more attractive, says Cowen
Cowen analyst Kevin Kopelman noted Booking Holdings saw weakness since the World Cup in June, but he said the Q2 beat was its biggest in years. The analyst said Q3 guidance looks overly conservative and the setup for Q4 is favorable on likely nights and profit acceleration. Kopelman reiterated his Outperform rating, though he lowered his price target to $2,375 from $2,500 on Booking Holdings shares.

Neutral
Booking Holdings price target lowered to $1,990 from $2,260 at DA Davidson
DA Davidson analyst Tom White lowered his price target on Booking Holdings to $1,990 and kept his Neutral rating, saying that while Q2 showed a big profit beat thanks to gross bookings growth of 15%, the outlook for Q3 was below consensus. The analyst points to slowing Q3 room night growth expectations of 6%-9% from 12% in Q2 with EBITDA margins compressing to 48.2%-50.9% expected range vs. 50.0% in Q3 of last year. White further notes that while "re-tilting" of the company's marketing strategy could be the correct move for the long-term health of the business, it is having a direct impact on room night growth.
