Duke Energy Carolinas, Duke Energy Progress propose rate increases
Duke Energy Carolinas, which serves about 591,000 customers in the Upstate region of South Carolina, including Greenwood, Greenville, Spartanburg, Lancaster and York counties, announced a filing with the Public Service Commission of South Carolina to request to increase revenues by about $168M, for an overall average rate increase across all customer classes of 10.0%. The average rate increase for residential customers on their total bill would be 12.1%, while commercial and industrial customers would see an average increase of 8.3%. Duke Energy Progress in South Carolina, separate from Duke Energy Carolinas in South Carolina, made a similar request to change customer rates, Duke Energy noted. Duke Energy Progress serves about 169,000 customers in the northeastern part of South Carolina, including Darlington, Florence and Sumter counties.
