Wells Fargo views Booking Holdings Q3 favorably, upgrades to Outperform
As previously reported, Wells Fargo analyst Robert Coolbrith upgraded Booking Holdings to Outperform from Market Perform and raised his price target on the shares to $2,150 from $2,000. With favorable view of Q3 performance and management strategy, the analyst believes current valuation offers a favorable entry point. Coolbrith notes that shares remain significantly below historical valuation averages and highlights recent mix shift to merchant model bookings as a potentially underappreciated tailwind for working capital dynamics and free cash flow growth going forward.

In a research note to investors, Ju says both Experiences and Restaurants continue to demonstrate strong growth, with management expecting continued acceleration in Q4, and looking to 2019, he expects TripAdvisor to continue to invest in its growing segments, where it can look to consolidate supply and demand in a bid to garner greater market share. He therefore expects the free cash flow from the Hotels segment to continue to be redeployed accordingly.

TripAdvisor's new advertising products can boost its revenue, says DA Davidson
DA Davidson analyst Tom White kept his Neutral rating and $62 price target on TripAdvisor, saying he has been tracking the advertiser adoption of its new products - "Sponsored Placements" for hotels and "TripAdvisor Ads" for restaurants. The analyst believes that these products may help the company reduce its reliance on meta-search ad product where it has limited control of pricing while creating ways for it to monetize its global audience of 455M monthly unique users. Given that the business is still "relatively small" however, White prefers a neutral stance based on the TripAdvisor stock valuation.

White says the investors should particularly monitor Trivago's revenue diversification efforts, with the progress thus far seen as limited as Booking Holdings (BKNG) and Expedia (EXPE) accounted for 76% of sales in the quarter. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts downgraded to Buy from Conviction Buy at Goldman Sachs
Goldman Sachs analyst Stephen Grambling removed Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (WYN) from his firm's America's Conviction List while keeping a Buy rating on the shares. The analyst lowered his price target for the stock to $70 from $76. Grambling reduced his estimates for Wyndham to reflect incremental caution around timeshare amid softening housing data and rising rates. However, he continues to believe upside from the La Quinta acquisition, accelerating unit growth, and fee rates should all drive upside to consensus estimates and a "re-rating" versus peers. Nonetheless, Grambling sees a more attractive risk/reward in shares of Marriott (MAR).

Marriott financial impact from breach likely marginal, says Jefferies
After Marriott disclosed it is investigating a data security incident involving a Starwood guest reservation database that contains information on up to approximately 500M guests, including approximately 327M of whom may have had sensitive information accessed, Jefferies analyst David Katz said he believes the announcement will pressure shares in the near-term, but he does not expect a meaningful financial impact either in the near-term or long term-term. While he thinks any revisions to estimates will be marginal, Katz does think "it is prudent to contemplate" the possibility for near-term, headline-driven apprehension in new bookings, the possible medium- to longer-term impact of customers leaving to competitors and the near-term expenses and any potential charges or settlements.
