JD.com price target lowered to $35 from $41 at MKM Partners

Longer term, the analyst keeps his Buy rating on JD.com however, stating that the stock could see "very significant upside with just decent execution" and triple in value over 3-4 year period.

eBay January trends in-line with expectations, says Baird
Baird analyst Colin Sebastian said his survey shows January trends for eBay suggest a slight year-over-year decline, which is in-line with expectations and management's guidance. He believes the company's recent corporate realignment of market leadership, a ramping of advertising revenues, a decent dividend yield, and its $4B stock buyback authorization should appeal to value-oriented investors. Sebastian reiterated his Outperform rating and $40 price target on eBay shares.

PayPal Q4 results mixed, positive fundamentals intact, says Baird
Baird analyst Colin Sebastian kept his Outperform rating and $99 price target on PayPal (PYPL) after its Q4 results, saying that while revenues came in "a touch soft", the slight miss was in line with his checks. The analyst notes that the soft top-line result was driven by " e-commerce slowdown, eBay (EBAY) weakness, and International/x-border challenges", but sees the company's positive long-term fundamentals as intact. Sebastian points to the growth in PayPal's transactions of 28% - up from 27% in Q3 - along with a 9% increase in user engagement, adding that while his price target is based on the 30-times forward earnings multiple, he sees the premium valuation as reflective of the company's scale and innovation pace.

PayPal continues to grow away from eBay, says Jefferies
PayPal (PYPL) continues to grow away from eBay (EBAY), mitigating concentration along with way, Jefferies analyst John Hecht tells investors in a research note. eBay's composition of total payment volume has moved from nearly 20% at the end of 2016 to 10% at Q4 of 2018, the analyst points out. He believes his 2020 forecast for PayPal reasonably accounts for the eBay transition. By his model, eBay will represent low-to-mid single digits composition of both PayPal's total payment volume and revenue by the end of 2020, "substantially below current levels." Hecht keeps a Buy rating on PayPal with a $110 price target.

Morgan Stanley bullish on copper, upgrades Freeport McMoRan to Overweight
As previously reported, Morgan Stanley analyst Piyush Sood upgraded Freeport McMoRan to Overweight from Equal Weight, noting that his firm's Metals & Mining team expects copper market tightness to emerge beginning in Q2, given falling global production, low visible inventories and improved demand from China. Freeport's earnings sensitivity to copper is still the highest among its peers, said Sood, who sees the stock emerging as "the go-to large-cap stock for exposure to a copper price rally." Concerns about Freeport's ability to ramp production from 2019-21 are overblown, added the analyst, who lowered his price target on the shares to $14 from $16, citing a lower multiple to reflect the overall compression in multiples across equities and management's newly disclosed expectations around costs.

DocuSign (DOCU) upgraded to Buy from Hold at Deutsche Bank with analyst Karl Keirstead saying that after speaking with four large e-signature customers, three using DocuSign and one using Adobe Sign, the analyst believes a "more constructive call on DocuSign shares is now warranted." 3. Bloom Energy (BE) upgraded to Outperform from Market Perform at Raymond James with analyst Pavel Molchanov saying shares are down about 36% since the IPO in July 2018, including a 24% drop since mid-January, the latter due in large part to selling pressure following lockup expiration. 4. Shopify (SHOP) upgraded to Outperform from Sector Perform at RBC Capital with analyst Ross MacMillan saying he anticipates the company to return to new merchant growth this year given its international opportunity and easier comps. 5. Myovant Sciences (MYOV) upgraded to Overweight from Equal Weight at Barclays with analyst Geoffrey Meacham saying his firm's women's health survey suggests a "robust potential market" for new treatment options for endometriosis and uterine fibroids. The analyst notes that the price decline in bank stocks was "value restoring" for the sector and still sees a " relatively benign system-wide fundamental credit quality over the next two years". Societe Generale downgrades Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley to Sell
As previously reported, Societe Generale analyst Andrew Lim downgraded Goldman Sachs (GS) and Morgan Stanley (MS), both to Sell from Hold, citing his view that the credit cycle deterioration "has already been set in motion" and that it will pay to be defensive for the rest of 2019. Goldman and Morgan are much more exposed to pressure on market-sensitive revenues as purer investment banks, Lim tells investors. He does not have any Buy ratings on big U.S. banks, but continues to favor holding positions in Bank of America (BAC) and JP Morgan (JPM), which Lim views as the most defensive large cap U.S. banks, he tells investors.

The analyst also notes that while the valuation on Caterpillar stock is "relatively inexpensive", its deeper move into the cycle likely gives it a "fair value" on possibility of slower economic growth. Weber also lowered his FY19 EPS outlook on the stock to $3.01 from $3.27 in spite of the management's forecast for "modest revenue growth" and aggressive ramp in share repurchases.

The analyst is also concerned that the company's spending on asset revitalization plan will weigh on earnings in the near term, even though he sees its long-term outlook as promising. While he thinks a seasonal pickup in U.S. demand should help put a floor under steel pricing, he would look to fade any 3-6 month steel price and sentiment rally, Sood added.
