California avocado grower issues recall on Listeria concerns
Henry Avocado announced on Friday that it is voluntarily recalling California-grown whole avocados sold in bulk at retail stores because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. "Henry Avocado is issuing this voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution due to positive test results on environmental samples taken during a routine government inspection at its California packing facility. There are no reported illnesses associated with this recall," the company stated in its press release issued on the evening of March 23. Early weakness in shares of Chipotle Mexican Grill is being attributed to news of the avocado recall, trading contacts tell The Fly. In morning trading, Chiptold shares are down 1.7% to $660.89.
