Citi views Keane acquisition of FTS as most attractive in Oil Service
Consolidation amongst the pressure pumpers is likely to pick up in the current period of profitability bifurcation, Citi analyst Scott Gruber tells investors in a research note. The analyst, however, believes Schlumberger (SLB) and Halliburton (HAL) seem unlikely to acquire and that consolidation looks more likely amongst the mid-tier pumpers. Of those, Keane Group (FRAC) is most likely to acquire, says the analyst. FTS International (FTSI) screens as the most likely to be acquired, although pumping segments at Patterson-UTI (PTEN) and Superior Energy (SPN) could also be targeted, contends Gruber. He believes Keane and FTS looks like the most attractive combination. Both shares could rise in the event of a deal announcement, says the analyst.

Goldman Sachs starts 19 in Oilfield Services, top pick is Baker Hughes
Goldman Sachs analyst Angie Sedita last night initiated coverage of 19 names in the Oilfield Services & Equipment space. The analyst sees three themes: A slow recovery in the offshore markers benefiting both offshore drilling and subsea, U.S. frac activity outpacing land drilling over the near-term, and a a surge of LNG projects moving forward benefiting companies exposed to those trends. Valuations are at the low end of historical ranges, says the analyst, who expects annual earnings growth of 15%-30% through 2021 for the group. Sedita's top pick is Baker Hughes (BHGE), a stock she started with a Conviction Buy rating. Her top Sell is Diamond Offshore (DO). Along with Baker Hughes, the analyst put Buy ratings on Halliburton (HAL), Schlumberger (SLB), Transocean (RIG), TechnipFMC (FTI), Nine Energy Services (NINE) and ProPetro Holding (PUMP). Along with Diamond Offshore, Sedita also put a Sell rating on RPC, Inc. (RES).

Moody's downgraded to Underweight from Equal Weight at Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley analyst Toni Kaplan said she is increasingly cautious on the credit rating agencies given her view that recent spread widening has the potential to further impact issuance. With about 60% of revenue and about 80% of profits coming from its rating agency business, she expects Moody's (MCO) to come under pressure in a more challenging issuance environment and downgraded the stock to Underweight from Equal Weight. Kaplan, who forecasts a below consensus view for Ratings revenue at Moody's to be down 1% in FY19, lowered her price target on the shares to $135 from $156. Kaplan keeps an Equal Weight rating on credit rating agency peer S&P Global (SPGI), but lowered her price target on the shares to $186 from $202.

Atlantic sees better entry point into S&P Global, upgrades to Overweight
As previously reported before the open, Atlantic Equities analyst John Heagerty upgraded S&P Global (SPGI) to Overweight from Neutral, stating that the 20% decline in the shares since July has provided a better entry point into the stock. He lowered his EPS forecasts for both S&P and Moody's (MCO) to account for the fact that corporate debt issuance was "very weak" in Q4. However, he also noted that high yield spreads have narrowed quickly since the beginning of the year, which he believes should provide a steadier platform for issuance in 2019. Also, debt refinancing requirements, particularly for high yield issuers, continue to increase, noted Heagerty, who has a $210 price target on S&P shares.

Jefferies sees more downside for Hi-Crush Partners, Smart Sand
Investor expectations for normalized frac sand earnings power are now more reasonable, but lofty valuations suggest stocks are still pricing in solid medium term recovery, "which is hardly a given," Jefferies analyst Saurabh Pant tells investors in a research note titled "Fractured Sand, Squeezed Out Equity Value." Further, high debt "continues to crowd out equity value" and limited free cash flow improvement suggests more downside for frac sand pure-plays Hi-Crush Partners (HCLP) and Smart Sand (SND), adds the analyst. He views U.S. Silica (SLCA) as "more defensive" and finds it "interesting" on free cash flow yield, but says the stock lacks positive catalysts. Pant sees "continued oversupply, weak earnings and thus further downside to equity" values. The analyst lowered his price target for Hold-rated Covia (CVIA) to $4 from $7, for Underperform-rated Hi-Crush to $2.50 from $5, for Underperform-rated Smart Sand to $2 from $2.50 and for Hold-rated U.S. Silica to $13 from $16

Fly Intel: Top five analyst upgrades
Catch up on today's top five analyst upgrades with this list compiled by The Fly: 1. Exact Sciences (EXAS) upgraded to Buy from Neutral at Goldman Sachs by analyst Patrick Donnelly, who said the current momentum of the Cologuard commercial ramp provides "strong basis" for the company's premium valuation while the combination of positive Cologuard catalysts and new product roll-outs provide upside to current levels, even after the stock's 75% rally since the beginning of 2018. Exact Sciences is a "must-own growth stock" given the "clean runway forward that is largely in its control with potential for discovery value in the pipeline outside of Cologuard," the analyst said. 2. Siemens (SIEGY) upgraded to Overweight from Neutral at JPMorgan by analyst Andreas Willi, who sees a relative valuation opportunity after the stock's 27% underperformance over the past two years. He believes investor sentiment can improve "after a period where the story has drifted." 3. However, upside to the stock will depend on quality of the data likely, Karnauskas said. 4. EverQuote (EVER) upgraded to Buy following Q4 beat at BofA/Merrill by analyst Mat Schindler, who said user growth has re-accelerated, supporting evidence of a turnaround, and thinks estimates are conservative and views the risk/reward as attractive. 5. Ally Financial (ALLY) upgraded to Buy from Hold at Sandler O'Neill by analyst Christopher Donat, who said he believes Ally's near-prime auto finance book is "meaningfully less risky" than Santander Consumer's (SC) book or the unsecured credit cards of Discover (DFS) and Capital One (COF), yet all four stocks trade at similar multiples. Anadarko selloff brings 'compelling entry point,' says JPMorgan
Following a disappointing Q4 report and "mixed messaging" from the conference call, Anadarko Petroleum shares have been under intense pressure with the stock now representing the worst performing large cap equity on a year-to-date basis, JPMorgan analyst Arun Jayaram tells investors in a research note. TC now seems "relatively expensive," trading at more than one turn enterprise value to EBITDA premium versus peer master limited partnerships while "possessing among the lowest total returns on our estimates," Tonet tells investors in a research note. In the Canadian Energy Infrastructure space, the analyst's top pick is Pembina Pipeline (PBA).

On The Fly: Top five analyst upgrades
Catch up on today's top five analyst upgrades with this list compiled by The Fly: 1. SeaWorld (SEAS) upgraded to Buy from Neutral at B. Riley FBR with Eric Wold saying as a leading operator of differentiated theme parks as well as driving animal preservation and education, SeaWorld is well positioned to benefit from increased global consumer brand awareness and improving economies of scale. 2. Trex Company (TREX) upgraded to Buy from Hold at Stifel with analyst John Baugh saying the stock is trading at an attractive level with a risk/reward "very favorable" below $60. 3. Five Below (FIVE) upgraded to Conviction Buy from Buy at Goldman Sachs with analyst Christopher Prykull saying the stock is trading at a discount to Five Below's "growing" intrinsic value as building brand awareness, "robust" new store performance, and tailwinds from initiatives such as remodels should sustain double-digit top- and bottom-line growth. 4. People's Utah Bancorp (PUB) upgraded to Buy from Hold at Sandler O'Neill with analyst Andrew Liesch saying the bank has consistently posted strong operating results since its IPO in 2015 but that the stock has declined 15% year-to-date and underperformed the Nasdaq Bank Index. 5. Cheniere Energy (LNG) upgraded to Conviction Buy from Buy at Goldman Sachs with analyst Michael Lapides saying he views Cheniere as the best way for investors to gain exposure to the growing U.S. liquefied natural gas industry. Conviction Buy
Cheniere Energy upgraded to Conviction Buy from Buy at Goldman Sachs
Goldman Sachs analyst Michael Lapides added Cheniere Energy to his firm's Americas Conviction List and reiterates a Buy rating on the shares. He raised his price target for the shares to $87 from $84. The analyst views Cheniere as the best way for investors to gain exposure to the growing U.S. liquefied natural gas industry. He sees "several" near-term catalysts and expects the company to generate "material" free cash flow from liquefaction projects coming online.

Market Perform
Cheniere Energy Partners downgraded to Market Perform at BMO Capital
BMO Capital analyst Danilo Juvane downgraded Cheniere Energy Partners (CQP) to Market Perform from Outperform with an unchanged price target of $43. The stock is "priced to perfection with no clear visibility to imminent catalysts," Juvane tells investors in a research note. The analyst sees limited upside potential from current share levels. However, he sees growth and catalysts within the Cheniere platform levered to Corpus Christi, which makes him prefer owning Cheniere Energy (LNG), one of his top picks.
