Jefferies views Constellation sale of wine brands favorably
Earnings dilution from a sale of wine brands, along with Canopy Growth (CGC) investment dilution in fiscal 2020 has been an overhang for Constellation Brands (STZ) in recent months, Jefferies analyst Kevin Grundy tells investors in a research note. The analyst says that despite negative earnings implications, he views Constellation's sale of value wine brands to E. & J. Gallo for $1.7B favorably as the "consideration appears reasonable for a declining wine business." Further, and importantly, the sale shifts focus to the company's higher "growth/margin/return" portfolio of assets, namely beer, contends Grundy. Constellation remains the analyst's top pick with a Buy rating and $255 price target.

Credit Suisse starts Household Products & Beverages with Constellation top pick
Credit Suisse analyst Kaumil Gajrawala rolled out coverage last night on eight names in the Household Products & Beverages space. The analyst's ratings consist of three Outperforms, two Underperforms, and three Neutrals. His top pick is Constellation Brands (STZ), which he started with an Outperform rating and $230 price target. The company offers "predictable" high-single digit revenue growth with a valuation that is "well below slower growth peers," Gajrawala tells investors in a research note. His other Outperform ratings are on Monster Beverage (MNST) and Clorox (CLX). The analyst has a $78 price target on Monster, noting it is the fastest growing company in his coverage "with runway for continued growth." He has a $172 price target on Clorox saying the company's "unique" portfolio position justifies a premium valuation. Gajrawala's Neutral rated names are Church & Dwight (CHD), Procter & Gamble (PG) and Coca-Cola (KO). His two Underperforms are PepsiCo (PEP) and Colgate-Palmolive (CL). PepsiCo has a $100 price target as the analyst sees limited upside amid the company's "stepped-up" investment years. Colgate-Palmolive, Gajrawala's less favorite name, has a $55 price target. The company's out-year margins are at risk as it reinvests to address several years of slowing growth and sales declines, Gajrawala contends.

Infineon warning a 'reality check' for semiconductor group, says Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley analyst Craig Hettenbach noted that Infineon cut its FY19 revenue guidance by around 3.5% yesterday, citing elevated inventory in China autos and distribution broadly. Hettenbach calls the negative pre-announcement "an important reality check for semis" that calls into question recently building optimism for a second half rebound. Hettenbach maintains a Cautious view on Semis as a group and lists Sensata (ST), NXP Semiconductors (NXPI), TE Connectivity (TEL), Cypress Semiconductor (CY) and ON Semiconductor (ON) as stocks he covers that have meaningful exposure to autos.

NXP Semiconductors price target raised to $105 from $95 at Needham
Needham analyst Rajvindra Gill raised his price target on NXP Semiconductors to $105 and kept his Strong Buy rating after its "solid Q4 results". NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) downgraded to Neutral from Buy at Mizuho with analyst Vijay Rakesh saying with the stock up 40% from the December lows, high China auto inventory and Europe's Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure "could present challenges and limit upside." 4. Synaptics (SYNA) downgraded to Neutral from Overweight at JPMorgan with analyst Paul Coster saying the company reported "solid" fiscal Q2 results, driven by further improvement in gross margins, but issued "slightly disappointing" Q3 guidance owing to soft demand in the handset market. 5. Knowles (KN) downgraded to Hold from Buy at Lake Street with analyst Jaeson Schmidt saying while the company can be the dominant player in the market and think its share at Apple (AAPL) is set to remain stable in the future, increasing uncertainty on the health of the global smartphone market could create headwinds to the stock's multiple. In the near-term NXP acknowledged that uncertainties, especially in China, remain elevated due to trade headwinds and emissions testing bottlenecks in the European auto market, Seymore tells investors in a research note. However, the company continues to expect Q2 to grow quarter-over-quarter, albeit at a potentially slower rate than some of its more optimistic semi peers, adds the analyst.

The analyst now expects Baidu to continue investing in key areas, such as content and sales and marketing in 2019, regardless of softer advertising industry trends. Additionally, he expects the recently announced CCTV CNY gala sponsorship to have a one-off negative impact on Q1 margins due to higher marketing dollars, but beneficial to user acquisition. Further, the analyst believes the company's usage trends have remained "solid" and sees the potential for commerce and messaging monetization opportunities "as attractively priced within shares." Guggenheim downgrades Roku on increasing competition from Apple, Amazon
Guggenheim analyst Michael Morris downgraded Roku (ROKU) to Neutral from Buy and lowered his price target for the shares to $72 from $77. The stock closed yesterday down 3%, or $2.04, to $68.60. Morris this morning also upgraded Facebook (FB) to Buy from Neutral with a $200 price target. Apple's (AAPL) video product unveiled on March 25 represents an additional risk to Roku's active user base, the analyst tells investors in a research note. Further, Amazon's (AMZN) and Viacom's (VIAB) greater pushes into advertising video on demand are also increasing competition on Roku, Morris contends. He adds that Roku CFO Steve Louden's sale of 100,000 shares has also "shaken" his confidence in the stock. Nonetheless, the analyst's view of the "strong" secular streaming and targeted video advertising tailwinds that the company is positioned to benefit from is unchanged.

Facebook break-up unlikely, says Loop Capital
Loop Capital analyst Alan Gould kept his Buy rating and $200 price target on Facebook after holding a call with a "leading Washington expert on antitrust and a former general counsel to the Senate Antitrust Committee, Seth Bloom". The analyst says the expert suggested that the company may have to pay a "major fine" of up to $5B to resolve the alleged violation of its 2011 consent decree and the regulators may ask for some changes in management such as requesting that CEO Zuckerberg resigns from his post as Chairman. However, Gould believes that proving anti-competitive behavior allowing the government to break up Facebook would be difficult. The analyst maintains his view that the shares are "attractively priced", particularly given the value of monetization from its WhatsApp and Messenger platforms.

Boeing weakness on 737 Max 8 issues a buying opportunity, says Tigress Financial
Tigress Financial analyst Ivan Feinseth is keeping his Buy rating on Boeing and believes that the recent weakness in the stock price related to its 737 MAX 8 issues is a "buying opportunity". The analyst contends that the long-term aircraft demand remains strong, and Boeing is benefiting from the trend of increasing passenger and freight traffic along with an upcoming increase in retiring older planes. Feinseth estimates the global demand for commercial aviation services to grow about 4% per year over the next 20 years to over $8.8T in total value. Additionally, the analyst anticipates Boeing to generate "higher returns on capital, increasing economic profit, and greater shareholder value creation" from "increasing needs in cybersecurity, communication systems, and greater defense spending."

Boeing EPS consensus cuts coming after delivery data, says Baird
Baird analyst Peter Arment said his checks continue to point to Boeing reporting 134 plane deliveries in Q1, including only 85 deliveries of 737s, down from prior expectations of 147 aircraft. His 2019 delivery assumption for the 737 family is 871 planes, which compares to guidance of 895-905 and assumes limited deliveries through April for the 737 program after the grounding of the 737-MAX. Arment expects the EPS consensus for Boeing to "come down considerably" after the company's report next week of official Q1 delivery data, though he continues to recommend both short- and long-term investors buy Boeing shares and add to positions on the current pullback. Airlines needed some good news, and Delta delivered, says Stephens
With investor sentiment on the airline space negative, the group was in need of some good news and Delta Air Lines delivered a positive surprise this morning, Stephens analyst Jack Atkins tells investors in a research note. The airline pointed Q1 RASM growth to the upper-end of its initial guidance range, lowered its Q1 CASM excluding fuel expectation and raised its Q1 earnings guidance range, says the analyst. Atkins finds it encouraging that Delta noted underlying passenger demand remains solid and that the business market led the way during the quarter. Further, the company announced an extension of its credit card partnership with American Express (AXP), which is expected to double the revenue contribution to $7B by 2023 versus 2018 levels, he notes. Atkins reiterates an Overweight rating on Delta with a $63 price target. The stock in midday trading is up 7% to $55.64. Morgan Stanley says 737 MAX grounding shouldn't hurt long-term fundamentals
Morgan Stanley analyst Rajeev Lalwani noted that most major countries and airlines that operate Boeing's (BA) 737 MAX, except for the U.S. and Canada, have placed restrictions around the plane and his expectation is for a grounding of the fleet globally. In that base case, he said there is likely to be disruption to Boeing's deliveries and order activity that ultimately create a buying opportunity over the coming quarters as he thinks the issue should not impact fundamentals in the long run. In regard to suppliers such as Spirit AeroSystems (SPR) and United Technologies (UTX), Lalwani believes disruption will be limited, contrary to market reactions. Among U.S. airlines who operate the 737 MAX, Lalwani said Southwest (LUV) screens as most exposed versus American Airlines (AAL) and United Continental (UAL). For aircraft lessors like Air Lease (AL) and AerCap (AER), a global grounding scenario has "mixed implications," added the analyst. Though he remains comfortable with his Overweight rating and $500 price target on Boeing shares, Lalwani thinks clarity on the path ahead for the 737 will be needed for shares to resume their upward trend.
