Facebook at work on voice assistant like Alexa and Siri, CNBC reports

A team within Facebook's (FB) augmented reality and virtual reality group has been heading up an effort to build a new AI voice assistant similar to Apple's (AAPL) Siri, Amazon's (AMZN) Alexa, Microsoft's (MSFT) Cortana and the Google (GOOGL) Assistant, according to CNBC's Salvador Rodriguez, citing people familiar with the matter. It is unclear how Facebook envisions people using the assistant, which it has been working on since early 2018, the report said. Reference Link

Facebook price target raised to $195 on Stories monetization at Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Nowak said he is bullish on Instagram's commerce opportunity, which he believes could add $4B or more to North America ad revenue by 2021, but that developing a stronger payments offering to capitalize will take some time. Monetizing Stories "took time too," said Nowak, who added that his agency conversations on Stories pricing and ROI have been positive and he believes Stories are monetizing now. He raised his FY19 revenue and EPS estimates by 1% each, increased his price target on Facebook shares to $195 from $190 and keeps an Overweight rating on the stock.

Baird boosts Shopify target to $208 from $188 after 'positive' checks
Baird analyst Colin Sebastian raised his price target for Shopify (SHOP) to $208 from $188 and keeps an Outperform rating on the shares following "positive" channel checks. The stock closed yesterday down 5% to $194.75 following a cautious research report from short-seller Citron Research. Channel checks suggest Shopify continues to consolidate share, despite intensifying competitive concerns from Adobe (ABDE), Facebook/Instagram (FB), Microsoft (MSFT), Salesforce (CRM) and Square (SQ), Sebastian tells investors in a research note. The analyst believes it will "take years and significant investment for others to catch up." Further, enterprise, international and merchant services offer incremental growth potential for Shopify, says the analyst. While not in "pound the table" territory, investors should opportunistically add or build to positions in the name on pullbacks, contends Sebastian.

Facebook field checks consistently positive in Q1, says Goldman Sachs
Goldman Sachs analyst Heather Bellini said she sees potential for upside to consensus forecasts when Facebook reports on April 24, noting that her field checks were consistently positive in Q1. Partners pointed to continued outsized growth on Instagram and accelerating adoption of the Stories format by advertisers, noted Bellini, who is forecasting above-consensus Q1 revenue of $15.1B and above-consensus GAAP EPS of $1.72. She reiterates a Buy rating and $200 price target on Facebook shares.

Lattice competitive landscape unchanged by Intel deal, says Baird
Shares of Lattice Semiconductor are trading lower on potential concerns related to smartphone procurement dynamics and the competitive landscape, Baird analyst Tristan Gerra tells investors in a research note. The analyst notes, however, that Lattice is de-emphasizing the smartphone market and no longer has content in Apple's (AAPL) new iPhones. Further, Intel's (INTC) acquisition of Omnitek does not change Lattice's competitive landscape, says Gerra. The analyst has an Outperform rating on Lattice Semiconductor with a $10 price target. Netflix price target raised to $470 from $440 at BMO Capital
BMO Capital analyst Daniel Salmon raised his price target on Netflix (NFLX) to $470 and kept his Outperform rating ahead of its Q1 earnings today, saying he expects "strong results" from the company. The analyst bases his price target change on his rolled out estimates for 2021-2028 and believes that Netflix still has "room to grow" internationally - particularly in India and Japan - while improving its per subscriber leverage on content spend and generating "steady growth of its consumer product licensing revenues." Salmon also believes that while Netflix remains the clear leader in global streaming, Amazon (AMZN) and Disney (DIS) can also be "long-term winners" in the sector.

Amazon looks to be testing new apparel initiative, says KeyBanc
KeyBanc analyst Edward Yruma says that Amazon looks to be testing a new apparel initiative called Prime Stylist, which will offer women a curated set of apparel options with the assistance of a personal stylist. This marks an intensification of Amazon's efforts in apparel, which the analyst views as broadly negative for its competitors. Yruma continues to believe that apparel and grocery are two key focus areas within Amazon's retail business given its relatively low market share as well as favorable secular attributes.

Alliance Data structural challenges remain despite Epsilon sale, says Wedbush
Wedbush analyst Moshe Katri reiterates a Neutral rating and a $180 price target for Alliance Data (ADS) despite reported Epsilon's sale to Publicis (PUBGY) for $4.4B in cash. On one hand, his estimated Alliance Data stand-alone pro forma model suggests such a transaction could be highly accretive for its CEPS given Epsilon's lackluster growth rates combined with an inflated cost structure. On the other hand, the analyst notes that results from Alliance Data's 100-plus retailers will likely continue to be cannibalized by the "Amazon" (AMZN) effect, capping transaction volume growth and impacting results of the company's largest segment. Furthermore, the company will be selling its "big data"/analytics business, which in the past, has been viewed as a significant competitive differentiator, he adds.

MongoDB partnership with Google a positive development, says William Blair
Google (GOOG, GOOGL) announced yesterday at its annual Cloud Next developer conference a slew of partnerships with open source database and analytics vendors, including MongoDB (MDB), William Blair analyst Jason Ader tells investors in a research note. Instead of competing with these vendors, like its main rival Amazon Web Services (AMZN) has generally chosen to do, Google is deepening integrations with these open source solutions in an effort to simplify customer adoption of them through the Google Cloud Platform, says Ader. He believes that although Google Cloud Platform is a "distant third" in market share to AWS and Microsoft's (MSFT) Azure, the news is a positive development for MongoDB "that could begin to bring more attention to and turn the tide against open source strip mining." Ader reiterates an Outperform rating on MongoDB shares.

Microsoft price target raised to $141 from $125 at KeyBanc
KeyBanc analyst Brent Bracelin raised his price target for Microsoft to $141 from $125 on increasing confidence in the company's cloud and digital strategy. The analyst sees the March quarter as another positive milestone and part of a broader multi-year cloud and digital journey that has structurally improved the business model drivers and prospects of sustaining double-digit annual growth. O365 subscription ARR could top $20B for the first time, while Azure could top $12B, he contends, adding that robust commercial cloud growth of 43% could push the cloud mix to 33% versus 5% in FY15. Bracelin reiterates an Overweight rating on the shares.

Avaya could fetch up to $25 from PE buyer, says BWS Financial
Additional news reports about Avaya (AVYA) possibly going private since an initial Reuters report build some credibility about the news, said BWS Financial analyst Hamed Khorsand, who believes Avaya could fetch as much as $25 from a private equity buyer using fiscal 2019 estimates and could be worth as much $30 assuming no improvement in the business for fiscal 2020. He thinks greater synergies could be extracted by a strategic buyer and continues to believe Microsoft (MSFT) would be the best fit as an acquirer. Apple healthcare opportunity being underappreciated, says Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty, in collaboration with the firm's healthcare and tech teams, said she sees Apple "creating the building blocks of another ecosystem like the App Store" but in healthcare, armed with the Apple Watch and the iPhone. While she believes investors are aware of Apple's healthcare efforts, Huberty thinks they "may be missing the big picture and underappreciating the magnitude of the opportunity" she stated in her healthcare deep dive report. Huberty noted that the firm's recent survey of 30 meeting participants, three-quarters of them C-level executives from leading healthcare and technology companies, showed that they see Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOGL) and Apple as the technology companies that will have the largest impact on healthcare over the next five years, but in that ranking she thinks they are believe they are underestimating Apple. Huberty, who sees healthcare as a $15B-$313B revenue opportunity for Apple by 2027, keeps an Overweight rating on the iPhone maker's shares.
